 Music Box Theatre: An Introduction to Musical Theatre (ages 5-7)

Using song and movement as storytelling tools, students learn the basics of musical theatre performance as they prepare and perform a mini-musical for an invited audience on the final class! As an ensemble, they will learn stage direction, vocalization exercises and most importantly, how music can help to move or drive a story. All students must be available for the showcase performance on the final date (November 28).

Enchanted Entertainers (ages 5-7)

In this drama class, students will be introduced to a genre of children’s literature such as; fractured fairy tales, Aesop’s fables, fiction and non-fiction stories that will be use to teach educational lessons. Together with their instructor, they will develop their own stage adaptation of these tales that will include acting, dancing/movement and music!  At the end of this course the students will present this performance for an invited audience.  This acting class promises to be fun, exciting, memorable and one-of-a-kind.  The students will leave this class with a better understanding of basic theater. All students must be available for the showcase performance on the final date (November 16).

A “triple threat” on Broadway is a performer who can sing, act and move well: music, movement and motivation work together in any musical number to tell the story. Harness these elements and build strong performance skills as we examine the best of Broadway! Students will learn how to not only sing a musical number, but explore musical staging, stage directions, how to act a song and most importantly how to vocally blend and work together creatively as an ensemble. Acting games and exercises will also be incorporated into the curriculum. Students will perform a showcase for family and friends on the final date (November 20) for which ALL students must be available.

On the Spot: Comedy and Improv for Kids (ages 8-10)

Challenge your creativity by putting on your own show! In this eight-week workshop, students will learn the process of creative collaboration as they collaborate with their instructor to create their own performance piece to be presented to an audience of family and friends on the final class. Students will work (in accordance with a carefully-planned outline) on developing characters and providing creative contributions to their script. All students must be available for the showcase performance on the final date (December 9).

Between the Lines: Monologue Study for Adults (ages 16 and up)

This class will focus on monologues, whether in a performance or audition situation. About our classes, educational philosophy and staff: Curtain Call’s performance classes and workshops are focused in building not only performance skills, but confidence, social skills, presentation skills, creative instincts, teamwork and leadership qualities. We cater to all skill levels whether the raw-beginner or experienced professional and offer a low-pressure environment where students are able to explore and develop creative techniques applicable to any performance situation. Classes range from six to sixteen students and run once a week for eight-week sessions fall, winter and spring. Full-day summer vacation programs are also available, as well as summer stage and behind-the-scenes opportunities in our Summer Youth Theatre for participants entering 4th grade thru age twenty-one (Click here for Summer Programs information).

The Kweskin Studio

Located on the second level of our Kweskin Theatre, the Kweskin Studio is the same dimensions as the building’s main-stage. It is equipped with full-length mirrors for dance, air-conditioning, bathrooms on the same level and sound-proofing.

The Dressing Room Theatre (DRT) Studio

While slightly smaller than our Kweskin Studio, our DRT Studio (located on the second level of Curtain Call’s Dressing Room Theatre) also provides full-length mirrors for dance, air conditioning, sound proofing and a bathroom within the studio itself. The room allows for considerable classroom privacy.

Refund policy: 100% refund if notified of withdrawal up to 7 days prior to the starting date of the class. 75% refund if notified of withdrawal less than 7 days prior to the starting date of the class. 50% refund if notified of withdrawal prior to the 2nd class date. NO refunds beyond the 2nd class date.
