Musical theatre requires performers to not only sing but to act a song as well. Movement and motivation work together in any musical number to help tell the story. Harness these elements and build strong vocal and performance skills as we examine the best of Broadway! Students will learn how to not only sing a musical number, but explore musical staging, stage directions, how to act a song and most importantly how to blend and work together creatively as an ensemble. Acting games and exercises will also be incorporated into the curriculum. The session will culminate in an informal showcase on the final date. All students must be available for this showcase, which – barring any weather or emergency cancellations – is March164, 2020. Any weather or emergency cancellations will result in the scheduling of our make-up dates as needed (March 23 and 30) Students must be available for make-up dates should they be needed.

Laughter is something we can all share and enjoy! In this eight-week, no-pressure, workshop, young actors will tap into their own creative ideas and instincts as they explore improv, sketches, physical comedy, parody and joke-telling! They’ll build confidence and teamwork skills as they learn to trust in themselves and their fellow actors, and recognize the difference between appropriate and inappropriate humor. A performance showcase on our final date, March 4, 2020 is optional. As this is primarily a skill-building class, students should not feel pressure to perform, but can if the class so decides.
