Let's Put On a Show, Grades K to 2September 17, 2022 – Let’s Put On a Show, Grades K to 2 Registration now closed. Instructor: Tony Republicano Saturdays, 10:00am to 11:00am 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/19 (*No class 10/8 in observance of Columbus/Indigenous People’s Day Weekend and 11/12 for Veteran’s Day Weekend.) In this eight-week workshop, students will develop their own performance piece to be presented for an audience of family and friends. Following a carefully-planned outline, the class will work on developing characters and providing creative contributions to their script. They will learn about the rehearsal process, line memorization, stage-movement (or blocking), general stage direction (upstage, downstage, stage right and left), and learn how a cast should work together as an ensemble. All students must be available for this showcase, which will take place during our final class on November 19. Registration: $275 |

Music Box Theatre: an Introduction to Musical Theatre, Grades K to 2September 20, 2022 – Music Box Theatre: An Introduction to Musical Theatre, Grades K to 2Registration now closed. Instructor: Ruth Lettera Tuesdays, 4:15pm to 5:15pm 9/20, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/15, 11/22 (*No class 9/27 for Rosh Hashanah, and 11/8 for Election Day.) Using song, character expression and choreographed movements and gestures as storytelling tools, students will assemble a mini-musical based upon a story or fable that they will perform for families on the final class. (A new mini-musical is explored each session for recurring students.) Students will be cast in various roles and provided with a script and recorded music tracks. The class will also include special craft projects which will be incorporated into their performance. All students must be available for their performance on the final date (November 22). Class materials will be provided through a Google Classroom. Registration: $275 |

Instructor: Tony Republicano Wednesdays, 4:15pm to 5:15pm 9/21, 9/28, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16 (*No class 10/5 in observance of Yom Kippur.) This low-pressure class environment allows students to explore a variety pack of acting tools and techniques for budding young talents including improv, character creation, scripted scenes/sketches, monologues, and commercials, without the pressure of rehearsing and preparation associated with putting on a show. Build confidence, presentation, social and public speaking skills. Highlights of the students’ work have often been presented in a showcase for an invited audience at the end of the session if the class is comfortable. Registration: $275 |
