Same Time, Next Year, is the two-character comedy that follows a quarter-century in the life of an adulterous affair between two otherwise happily married people who rendezvous one weekend each year to renew their intimate acquaintance.  (The play begat the 1978 movie with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn.)

The story of Same Time, Next Year revolves around characters Doris and George, who are married to other people but carry on a long-term affair, where they meet in the same hotel room on the same day every year.

The narrative follows the two lovers during their annual rendezvous between the early 1950s to the mid-1970s. During which time they are affected by changes in their personal lives with their families and spouses, as well as the societal changes of the age such as the advent of rock n’ roll, the Vietnam War, JFK’s assassination, the moon landing, the rise of hippie culture and women’s liberation.

Full of zippy dialogue, keen observations, hilarious visuals (the clothes! the hair!), and unexpected admissions, this play will have you laughing uproariously one moment and wiping away tears the next.
