SYNOPSIS:
When romance novelist Paul Sheldon is injured and stranded by a car accident, his biggest fan, Annie Wilkes, comes to his rescue. What begins as heroism, however, soon turns into terror, as Paul finds himself held captive by the unhinged Annie, who forces him to write a new novel featuring her favorite character. Based on the novel by master of horror Stephen King and adapted for the stage by William Goldman, author of The Princess BrideMisery gives a new meaning to the idea of writing like your life depends on it.

CHARACTERS:

  • Annie Wilkes – female presenting, 35-60. Annie seems to be a kind, tender woman who cares deeply for Paul, even if she does seem slightly off. Manipulative, cunning, and hides a deep and terrifying malice behind her cheery simple façade.
  • Paul Sheldon – male presenting, 45+. He’s thoughtful, if not a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty.
  • Buster – male presenting, 30-60. The sheriff of a nearby town searching for Paul.

Audition sides to be posted soon.
