This is a skill-building and confidence-boosting class in Short-Form Improv, a variety of improv usually based in games or short scenes based on a pred-determined structure or audience suggestion. This is a skill-building and confidence-boosting class which helps to shed inhibitions, instill confidence in one's own creative ideas and contributions, and helps enhance teamwork and problem-solving skills. Improv is unscripted, allowing artists to draw from their own instincts, shed their inhibitions, and build confidence and ease onstage. It also allows them to build trust among their fellow performers, commit to the given circumstance of a scene or situation, build upon their ideas, and bring freshness, adaptability and spontaneity in their performance. These skills also apply to social, presentational, interview, and business situations. “Short-form” improv consists of short scenes usually constructed from a predetermined game, structure, or idea and driven by an audience suggestion. In this eight-week class, you’ll develop quick and creative reflexes through a series of theatre games, impromptu scenarios, and character and team-building exercises.
