Learn how to analyze text to find character objectives, obstacles and tactics, beats that define a shift in energy, intensity or tactic, and how to determine the pace and rhythm set by the playwright. Students will develop characters through physical and internal exercises while also building stage speaking skills to achieve strong diction, emotional emphasis, clarity and vocal projection. They will examine and develop monologues that they can use for auditions and drama competitions or just to sharpen their technique and creativity. Students are welcome to bring in a piece of text they’d like to work on if they have something already in mind. Classes will meet using Zoom. Class materials and recordings of student work will be posted through a Google Classroom.
