This intensive study in musical performance offers students opportunities for solo work and individual focus. Under the guidance of Broadway music director Dan Micciche, they’ll explore selections from some of Broadway and Off-Broadway’s best to find and prepare new audition songs (up-tempo and ballad) to add to their audition repertoire. Classes will meet using Zoom. Class materials and recordings of student work will be posted through a Google Classroom.
Learn how to analyze text to find character objectives, obstacles and tactics, beats that define a shift in energy, intensity or tactic, and how to determine the pace and rhythm set by the playwright. Students will develop characters through physical and internal exercises while also building stage speaking skills to achieve strong diction, emotional emphasis, clarity and vocal projection. They will examine and develop monologues that they can use for auditions and drama competitions or just to sharpen their technique and creativity. Students are welcome to bring in a piece of text they’d like to work on if they have something already in mind. Classes will meet using Zoom. Class materials and recordings of student work will be posted through a Google Classroom.
Improv is unscripted, allowing artists to draw from their own instincts, shed their inhibitions, build personal ease and confidence onstage, and develop trust among fellow performers. These skills also apply to social, interview, audition and business situations. In this eight-week class, you’ll develop creative reflexes through a series of theatre games, impromptu scenarios, and character and team-building exercises. Our online class will take place via Zoom.
This no-pressure class environment allows students to explore a variety pack of acting tools and techniques for budding young talents including improv, character creation, monologues, scenes, sketches, on-camera scenes and commercials. Build confidence, presentation, social and public speaking skills. Highlights of the students’ work will be recorded and made available to families for viewing through a Google Classroom Drive.

Vocal warmup exercises will be used to build vocal range and dexterity. The class will address accents, bad speech habits, and lack of breathing technique. We will practice with actual commercial scripts and learn how to edit your own demo tape for an exciting career in voiceovers! (For this class, you will need an independent microphone - separate from your computer. Here are links to some inexpensive models: Lavalier Lapel Omnidirectional Microphone and Recording Microphone with Stand.)
