As an ensemble, they will learn stage direction, vocalization exercises and most importantly, how music can help to move or drive a story. Learn how to find clues in the text that relate to character objectives and obstacles, inspire character-driven choices and lead you to a more truthful performance. Sharpen vocal technique as you also delve into character choices and story-telling within a song. This intimate classroom environment offers opportunity to explore Broadway show-tunes and standards that can be used for either a cabaret-performance situation or to build onto your audition repertoire.

In this drama class, students will be introduced to a genre of children’s literature such as; fractured fairy tales, Aesop’s fables, fiction and non-fiction stories that will be use to teach educational lessons. Together with their instructor, they will develop their own stage adaptation of these tales that will include acting, movement and music! At the end of this course the students will present this performance for an invited audience. This acting class promises to be fun, exciting and memorable. Students will leave this class with a better understanding of basic performance skills. All students must be available for the showcase performance on the final date, which is June 7, 2018.
