Refund policy:
100% refund if notified of withdrawal up to 7 days prior to the starting date of the class.
75% refund if notified of withdrawal less than 7 days prior to the starting date of the class.
50% refund if notified of withdrawal prior to the 2nd class date.
NO refunds beyond the 2nd class date.

| On the Spot: Improv for Kids (ages 5-7) |

Challenge your creativity, confidence, and build trust in yourself and fellow performers as you create characters and scenarios on the spot. Tony Republicano has been teaching at Curtain Call since its inception and is proud to be on the Connecticut Office of the Arts Teaching Artist Roster, a resource of high-quality Connecticut artists juried for excellence in their art forms and their capacity to work in schools and community settings. He brings a variety of theatre programs to Higher Order Thinking schools throughout the state and performs social-issue theatre (anti-bullying, diversity, etc.) with Interactive Educational Theatre. He’s a member of SAG-AFTRA whose credits include Person of Interest, Blue Bloods, Law and Order: SVU, The Good Wife, The Following and several independent films. Tony’s also appeared on local stages.

A trademark style of Broadway dance, thanks to musicals like 42nd Street, Anything Goes and Crazy For You. Eli Newsom has been teaching tap dance for 12 years. His highly-rated DVD series, Tap Dance Made Easy, has become the most popular instructional tap dance video series available. He created an iPhone app entitled Tap App: a pocket reference of popular tap steps. Eli’s taught with Chelsea Studios and Broadway Dance Center. He’s a local director, music director, teacher, actor, the Artistic Director of Bridgeport Theatre Company, and appeared in Curtain Call’s productions of The Full Monty and 42nd St.

Comedy is a relief we all enjoy in life, regardless of its style: off-the-wall and unexpected, dark and sardonic, or honest and off-the-cuff. Build confidence, trust, and creative expression as you explore improv, sketch and stand-up comedy! Tracy Locke is thrilled to be back with Curtain Call after four years in LA where she taught improvisation, sketch, drama and stand-up comedy with Star Education. She’s studied improvisation with Upright Citizens Brigade (NYC & LA), Second City, IO West, Chicago City Limits and the Groundlings, and stand-up with the American Comedy Institute.

Based on the Book
Curtain Call’s Summerstock Performance Workshop Program offers fun, creative and challenging full-day curriculums for ages eleven through sixteen. Our intensive programs focus on acting, improv, musical theatre and Shakespeare, while creating a safe and comfortable environment that promotes confidence and social development.
Now entering its 23rd summer, Summerstock will be Based on the Book: exploring plays and musicals adapted from fables, fiction and literature. Every two weeks begins a new and exciting program:
Summerstock Creative Theatre: Adapted to the Stage (ages 11 to 16)
June 24 to July 3, 2013; Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm
Explore plays, characters and scenarios adapted from literature through improv, modern acting and Shakespeare performance. Registration: $725
Summerstock Musical Theatre: Broadway by the Book (ages 11 to 16)
July 8 to 19, 2013; Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm
A tribute to musicals based on our favorite novels, books and stories! Registration: $800
(Register for both Creative Theatre and Musical Theatre and save $150!!!)
Students work in age-appropriate groups under area professionals specialized in the performing arts. All programs take place at the Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, with two stages, two studio classrooms and air-conditioning. Each two-week session culminates in a showcase performance for an invited audience! All students should bring a lunch and should dress comfortably and wear appropriate footwear: no flip-flops, sandals, open-toed shoes or “heelies.” |
